INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 14/15 Syracuse University women's basketball team takes on RV/- Washington in the national semifinals, looking to seal a spot in the 2016 NCAA Tournament final on Sunday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m.

In its last game, Syracuse defeated Tennessee, 89-67, to advance to its first Final Four in program history on March 27. Junior guard Alexis Peterson led the way, scoring 29 points against the Lady Volunteers. It marked the most points scored by an Orange player in an NCAA Tournament contest.

Washington enters Sunday's game with a 26-10 overall record and 11-7 mark in Pac-12 competition. The Huskies earned the No. 7 seed in the Lexington Region and defeated Pennsylvania, Maryland, Kentucky, and Stanford to advance to the national semifinals. Washington defeated Stanford, 85-76, on March 27 to move on to its first Final Four appearance.

Class of 2016
Syracuse's senior class entered as one of the nation's top recruiting classes in 2012. Guards Brianna Butler and Brittney Sykes were the program's third and fourth McDonald's All-Americans, spearheading a class that was ranked No. 6 nationally by the Dan Olson Collegiate Girls' Basketball Report.

Since joining the program, Syracuse has won 98 contests, setting a new school record, and appeared in the NCAA Tournament every year, winning its first six NCAA Tournament contests in school history. The group has won 73.7 percent of its games, the top winning percentage in school history, as well.

The senior class has been a driving force in that time. The group has earned four all-conference recognitions and been ranked in the top 25 of the Associated Press Poll for 39 weeks during their careers.

Syracuse continued its historic season as it danced its way to the program's first Final Four with an 89-67 victory over Tennessee on March 27 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.

In their first Elite Eight appearance in program history, the Orange set a program record with 89 points scored. Junior guard Alexis Peterson broke her own Syracuse record with 29 points scored in an NCAA Tournament contest, her fourth straight game with at least 20 points.

Senior guard Brianna Butler was feeling it from deep against the Lady Volunteers. Butler knocked down six 3-point field goals, one shy of matching her career-high. It marked the third time this year the King of Prussia, Pa. native had made six from beyond the arc in a single game.

Classmate Cornelia Fondren added 13 points in the victory. Fondren was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field on the day. Fondren joined Butler and Peterson on the All-Sioux Falls Region Team, as well.
