SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's soccer team will kick off the 2016 athletic season Friday, Aug. 19 on the road against Colgate at 7 p.m. and will return home Sunday, Aug. 21 to host Delaware at 1 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium.
Â
The Orange return several key players from last season's seven-win team and bring in a top-20 recruiting class this season. Eight players with starting experience from last season's team will be back on the pitch for the Orange, including leading scorers, Alex Lamontagne and Stephanie Skilton. Each netted four goals last season. Junior goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan will be back between the posts for Syracuse after starting every game last season, leading the Atlantic Coast Conference with 81 total saves.
Â
Syracuse ended last season on a high note, winning three of the last four matches in the highly-regarded ACC.
Â
Syracuse opens the season at Colgate on Friday night. The Orange own a 15-3-1 all-time record versus Colgate and 6-2-1 record on the road against the Raiders. The two teams met last season in Syracuse in a game the Orange won, 2-1. The Raiders finished last season with a 6-9-3 overall record. Emily Crichlow was the leading scorer for Colgate a season ago with four goals and will be back as a junior this season.
