SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse women's soccer team (7-1-2, 0-0-1) will put its five-game unbeaten streak to the test at No. 13 Clemson (7-2, 1-0) on Thursday night in Clemson, S.C. at 7 p.m. for the first ACC road game of the season for the Orange.
Â
"We had a decent performance on Sunday in our first ACC game and we're hoping to replicate that and fix some of the mistakes we made," head coach Phil Wheddon said. "We'll try to minimize the mistakes and compete well against a very good Clemson team and then a very good Miami team."
Â
The Orange are coming off of a win and tie last week at the SU Soccer Stadium. With goals from Sheridan Street and Alana O'Neill on Thursday night, Syracuse defeated Buffalo 2-0. It was the sixth shutout of the season for 'Cuse, the fifth most in the ACC. On Sunday, Eva Gordon scored in the first half to give the Orange a 1-0 lead, but No. 20 Notre Dame came out in the second half to tie it up and the game would stay knotted through two overtimes.
Â
Junior goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan is second in the ACC with five shutouts in 2016, third in save percentage (0.867), and fourth in goals against average (0.484).
Â
O'Neill leads the Orange with four goals this season. Steph Skilton and Eva Gordon are right behind her with three goals each. Five other Syracuse have scored this season.
Â
Clemson is coming off a 9-0 victory against Presbyterian College last week. The Tigers also won their first ACC match at Wake Forest, 2-1, last week. Leading scorer Catrina Aranda scored a hat trick against Presbyterian, including two goals within the first six minutes. Aranda and the Tigers have scored three or more goals in five matches this season.
Â
Syracuse and Clemson met last season in the regular season finale on Oct. 31. The Tigers escaped Syracuse with a 1-0 win.
Â
The game will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
