Women's Hoops Loses at FSU, 77-58

Peterson leads the team with 26 points
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 24 Syracuse women's basketball team suffered a 77-58 loss at No. 7/6 Florida State on Thursday night.
HOW IT WAS DECIDED
Florida State (18-2) rode a strong, early performance to a 26-7 lead after 10 minutes of play. Up three points with 8:04 remaining in the first frame, the Seminoles went on 18-0 run and led by at least 10 points for the remainder of the contest.
Syracuse (13-7) would trail by as many as 33 points in the fourth quarter, its largest deficit of the 2016-17 campaign. Behind nine fourth-quarter points from senior guard Alexis Peterson, the Orange would make it a 19-point setback.

"They (Florida State) had a really good first half. Second half was more like we do, 50 percent from the field in the third quarter and 53 percent in the fourth quarter."
OF NOTE
Thursday's contest marked the team's first of three straight games against nationally-ranked opponents. It marks the second time this season that the club will take on three consecutive top-25 foes.
Peterson notched a team-leading 26 points at Florida State. Peterson has scored at least 10 points in each of the last 40 outings. She ranks third in program history with 1,693 career points scored.
Senior center Bria Day notched six points on the night, her second-best scoring effort of the 2016-17 season. With one blocked shot on the night, Day is three blocks shy of 10th place on the program's all-time blocked shots list.
