Orange Begin 2017 Season With Win at Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Syracuse women's tennis team (1-0) started the 2017 season on a winning note, earning a 4-3 victory at Yale (0-1) on Saturday afternoon.
"It was a total team effort," head coach Younes Limam said. "Winning three out of four matches in three sets speaks volumes of the heart and the grit of this team."
Despite being down 0-2 early in the match, the Orange found a way to come back win the next four of five points to claim the win against the Bulldogs. Yale won the doubles point to begin the match, but Syracuse won four points in singles play.
Miranda Ramirez picked up her first win as an Orange member at the No. 2 in singles, 6-3, 6-2. Dina Hegab and Libi Mesh also won their singles matches, both in three sets. Nicole Mitchell clinched the match for Syracuse with a 6-2, 6-7, 7-5 win.
Syracuse will be back in action on Sunday as they travel to Columbia. That match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
