Syracuse Travels to Michigan For ITA Kickoff

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's tennis team will participate in the ITA Kickoff weekend at Michigan this weekend. The Orange face No. 24 Mississippi State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
There will be four teams playing in Ann Arbor on Saturday and Sunday, No. 14 Michigan, Mississippi State, Denver and Syracuse. The team that wins both matches will advance to the ITA National Indoor Tournament in New Haven, Conn. on Feb. 10-13.
Syracuse is coming off a 1-1 opening weekend with a win at Yale but a loss at Columbia. The Orange feature a pair of players ranked by the ITA in Valeria Salazar and Gabriela Knutson. Salazar comes in at No. 38 in singles and Knutson and Salazar are ranked No. 10 in doubles.
Mississippi State opened the season with a win against UAB. The Bulldogs have the No. 27 singles player in Jasmine Lee. She and doubles partner Lisa Marie Rioux are ranked No. 5.
The winner between the two teams will face the winner of Michigan/Denver on Sunday. A consolation match will take place on Sunday for the other two teams.
