Syracuse Travels to #6 Boston College

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's hockey team will return to the ice on Wednesday, Jan. 4 against No. 6 Boston College after a three-week break. Puck drop is set for 4 p.m. at Kelley Rink.

In its last outing, Syracuse (5-8-5, 4-2-2 CHA) split a weekend series against No. 4 Clarkson with a tie and a loss. In the first game of the series, the Orange hosted the Golden Knights and recorded a 2-2 tie behind a late goal from Alysha Burriss, earning her CHA Player of the Week honors. The next day in Potsdam, Clarkson came out on top, 4-1.

The Orange are led in scoring by Burriss with 13 points this season. Heather Schwarz has a team-leading nine goals, including two against Clarkson. Schwarz has scored five of her goals against ranked opponents this season. Jessica Sibley leads the team in assists with nine on the season.

Boston College (12-3-3, 10-2-1 HEA) has been tough to beat at home in recent years with a 5-0-1 home record this season and a NCAA record 58-game unbeaten streak at Kelley Rink dating back to Oct. 19, 2013. In that span, the Eagles have outscored opponents 308-76 at home, averaging 5.31 goals per game.

With a 3.89 goals per game average, Boston College claims the second highest scoring offense in the nation this season. In the last eight games, the Eagles are averaging 5.00 goals per game. Caitlin Lonergan and Makenna Newkirk pace the Eagles with 21 points each this season. Delaney Belinksas is the lead goal-scorer for Boston College with 13 goals.

Wednesday's game will be the sixth matchup between the two teams all-time. Boston College leads the series, 3-1-1. The programs met last season in Syracuse and the Eagles came away with a 7-2 victory. Â Â
