Behind a program single-season record tying 11th shutout of the season, the No. 12 Syracuse field hockey team (12-5) closed out its regular season with a 3-0 win over No. 24 Pacific (8-8) on Saturday on Senior Day.
The Orange used a tallies from three different people in the win, while Borg van der Velde stopped six shots in cage.
The scoring started 19:10 into the game, when Chiara Gutsche sprawled out in front of the cage on a 'Cuse corner and deflected Annalena Ulbrich's shot into the net. The score would remain that way into the break, with the Orange maintaining a 1-0 lead at the half.
Syracuse scored right away after halftime, with Roos Weers burying a hard corner shot, with assists credited to Laura Hurff and Claire Webb, to take a 2-0 lead just four minutes into the second half.
Audrey Matthew then capped the scoring with her first collegiate goal, slamming home a rebound with five minutes to play. Florine Hogendoorn assisted on the goal.
"It's great for our future," head coach Ange Bradley said of freshmen contributing five of today's points. "I'm proud of them to step in and play well and to be able to score for us."
The program record for shutouts was held solely by the 1993 team prior to the 2017 Orange matching the record on Saturday.
Syracuse will next face Louisville in the ACC Quarterfinal on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
