SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's soccer team (5-4-2) hits the road for the second consecutive week, traveling to Pittsburgh to take on the Panthers (3-6-3). The Orange are looking for their first conference win of the season on Thursday night.
Â
Last Time Out
Syracuse faced its fifth ranked opponent of the season on Saturday when the Orange took on No. 5 North Carolina. The Tar Heels came out on top, 7-0, but senior keeper Courtney Brosnan still tied her season-high for saves with 11 in the game. As a team, the Orange tallied eight shots on goal.
Â
Chasing Records
Brosnan is on the brink of several career landmarks as a keeper, having amassed 294 career saves. Nine more saves will tie her for third in program history at 303 saves. Additionally, one more win will also move her into third in program history for wins with 23. Should Brosnan reach the 300 career saves mark, she will be just one of three players in Orange history to tally more than 300 saves in her career.
Â
Atlantic Coast Conference
The Orange are still seeking their first conference win after posting a pair of losses and a tie in the first three games of ACC play. Syracuse participates in one of the toughest soccer conferences in the nation as five ACC schools rank in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25. In conference games away from SU Soccer stadium, the Orange are 3-21-1 all-time.
Â
Scouting the Panthers
Pittsburgh and 'Cuse meet for the 21 time in program history with the Orange holding an 11-6-3 advantage over the Panthers. Like Syracuse, Pittsburgh is also coming off a 7-0 loss to a ranked team as they fell to No. 15 Virginia last time out. Junior Taylor Pryce leads the panthers in points (three goals, two assists), while redshirt freshman Katelyn McEachern anchors the Panthers in goal.
Â
Up Next…
The Orange close out the two-game road trip in South Bend, Ind. when they take on Notre Dame on Sunday, Oct. 8. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
