SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's soccer team (6-4-2) closes out a three-game road trip at Notre Dame (6-4-3) Sunday afternoon in South Bend, Indiana. The Orange are coming off their first conference win of the season.
Last Time Out
Syracuse tallied its first ACC win of the year as it defeated Pittsburgh 2-0 Thursday night at Ambrose Urbanic Field. Sophomore Sydney Brackett notched her team-leading fifth goal of the season while senior Alana O'Neill posted her first goal of 2017. Freshman Kate Hostage tallied her first career assist on the O'Neill goal.
300-Mark
Senior keeper Courtney Brosnan surpassed the 300 career saves mark Thursday night against Pittsburgh. The New Jersey native now sits at 302 career saves, just one save behind second-place Brittany Anghel ('13). With the win over the Panthers, Brosnan also tied Shannon Myers ('04) for third in program history with 23 career wins.
On The Road Again
The Orange have found success away from SU Soccer Stadium this season, posting a 3-2-0 record on the road. 'Cuse has accumulated eight goals in five road games this year including two against Pittsburgh last time out.
Scouting the Fighting Irish
Syracuse is looking for its first ever win over Notre Dame when the two teams meet on Sunday. The Orange took the Fighting Irish to a double overtime 1-1 tie the last time the two schools squared off. The Irish are coming off a 1-1 tie with No. 13 Virginia. Sophomore Natalie Jacobs paces Notre Dame in both goals (eight) and points (19) with three game-winners so far this season.
Up Next…
The Orange return home to face Miami on Oct. 11, a game that was rescheduled after Hurricane Irma. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and 'Cuse is partnering with United Way to raise donations for hurricane relief efforts.
