
Signing Day: Softball Adds Four

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Four new student-athletes are joining the Syracuse softball program in the fall of 2018, announced Wednesday by head coach Mike Bosch. The recruiting class marks the third under Coach Bosch and his staff.
"This class has a little bit of everything that a team needs to be successful," said Bosch. "These are four very athletic and dynamic players that, in addition to their future teammates, should keep this program moving forward."
Peyton Schnackenberg
Flemington, N.J.
Montgomery High School
A senior captain and four year member of the Montgomery High School softball program, Schnackenberg played pitcher and first base under head coach Bryan Upshaw. Montgomery won the State Sectional Championship in 2017 and was Skyland Conference Champions in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
In 2017, Schnackenberg was named the Skyland Conference Player of the Year, the Courier News Player of the Year and a second team all-state selection. She was also a first team all-conference member in 2016 and 2017. Schnackenberg received Montgomery's Silver Slugger Award (best batting average) in 2016 and the Dynamite Award (most valuable pitcher) in 2017.
"Peyton is a shutdown pitcher who can help us immediately in the circle," said Bosch.
Alexis Kaiser
Tucson, Ariz.
Canyon Del Oro High School
Kaiser is a four-year member of the Canyon Del Oro High School softball program; she was a catcher under head coach Kelly Fowler. Canyon Del Oro won the 4A State Championship in 2017. Kaiser excelled both on the softball diamond and in the classroom, as the incoming freshman is a member of the National Honor Society, the Principal's Honor Roll and the Spanish Club.
Kaiser was a first team all-state selection and a first team All-Southern Arizona honoree in 2017. She was an all-conference team member in 2016 and a two-time second team All-Southern Arizona selection in 2015 and 2016.
"Alexis is a middle of the lineup offensive player who also brings a presence behind the plate at the catcher position," said Bosch.
Anya Gonzalez
Tucson, Ariz.
Canyon Del Oro High School
Gonzalez is a four-year member of the Canyon Del Oro High School softball program; she played shortstop under head coach Kelly Fowler. Gonzalesz was a member of the 4A State Championship team in 2017 with fellow Syracuse signee Alexis Kaiser. She is also a member of the Cats – Bonstrom 18U softball team.
Over the course of her career at Canyon Del Oro, Gonzalez has recorded a .382 batting average with 13 homeruns and 65 runs batted in. She also stole 10 bases over the course of her career.
"Anya is a very versatile infielder who can run and hit for power," said Bosch.
Madison Crosslin
Blue Springs, Mo.
Blue Springs South High School
Crosslin is a centerfielder who played under head coach Kristi Williams at Blue Springs South High School for four seasons. Blue Springs South was the Class 4 State Championship runner-up in 2016 and 2017. Outside of softball, Crosslin is a member of the National Honor Society, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and the Compass Club.
Crosslin was named an All-American Scholar-Athlete three times (2014, 2015, 2016). In 2016 and 2017, she was a first team all-district selection and a two-time all-region honoree. Crosslin was a second team all-conference member in 2016.
"Madison gives us a left handed hitting triple threat with physical tools to make an impact in all facets of the game," said Bosch.
