Scouting The Hoyas
- Syracuse and Georgetown's rivalry dates back to the 1929-30 season. Since then, the Orange hold a 49-43 advantage in the all-time series.
- Georgetown (8-0) is one of the six remaining undefeated teams in NCAA Division I play. The Hoyas defeated North Carolina A&T, 83-74, in their last outing on Dec. 9. Jessie Govan leads Georgetown with 20.6 points and 13.0 rebounds per game. Marcus Derrickson (13.5 ppg) and Kaleb Johnson (12.5 ppg) are the only other Hoyas averaging double-digit scoring.
- Patrick Ewing is in his first year at the helm of the Georgetown program. The Hoyas have won their eight games by a margin of 17.8 points per game. Ewing, the first pick in the 1985 NBA Draft, has spent time as an assistant coach for the Washington Wizards, Houston Rockets and Orlando Magic and most recently as the associate head coach for the Charlotte Hornets.
