
Knight and Sellers Break Records for Track

Justyn Knight broke his own school, facility and meet record at the Iowa State Classic on Friday night to highlight the Iowa State Classic, while Kadejhia Sellers shattered her own 200-meter record in Boston to highlight night one of a busy weekend on the track for the Orange.
Knight finished second overall, edged by Tulsa's Marc Scott by 0.25 seconds, crossing the line in 7:47.82. He finished just ahead of former teammate Martin Hehir as well, who took third in 7:49.52 for NAZ Elite. Adam Palamar took ninth in the event (8:01.87)

Knight's time is currently the fourth-fastest in the nation, behind just Scott, Oregon's Edward Cheserek and Washington's Colby Gilbert.

Sellers bested her previous school record of 23.90 with a blazing-fast 23.66 to continue her streak of breaking records. Sellers has already broken the 400-meter dash record twice this season.

Her time was good for second, just 0.06 seconds behind Carly Muscaro of Merrimack's winning time. In addition to Sellers, Victoria Parker turned in a time of 24.87 in the event to take 12th.
'Cuse also put two runners in the 5k at the Iowa State Classic, with Colin Bennie placing 10th in a time of 13:51.93. Iliass Aouani was right behind Bennie, taking 23rd overall in 14:14.94.
 In addition to Sellers' record in Boston, Tia Thevenin took home the meet title in the 60-meter hurdles. She crossed the line in 8.41 seconds to secure the win.

Paige Stoner turned in a second-place finish in the 3000-meter run. Her time of 9:15.80 was just edged by professional competitor Emily Oren, who crossed the line in 9:15.58. Madeleine Davison was also in the field, racing to a time of 9:41.73, which was good for 20th.

Ebhani Blackwood (57.55) and Cheyenne Trigg (57.68) finished 23rd and 24th respectively in the 400-meters.
In the mile, Sydney Leiher led a deep Orange field with a time of 4:48.02, which was good for 21st. Rachel Bonner (32nd/4:55.74), McKenzie Altmayer (36th/4:57.10) joined her in the event.

The Orange 4x400-meter relay team of Blackwood, Thevenin, Danielle Delgado and Sellers finished fourth overall, turning in a time of 3:47.84.
Aviana Goode placed fourth in the long jump, leaping to a mark of 1.65 meters, while Justice Richardson finished sixth in the 60-meter dash in 7.72 seconds.
Syracuse is back in action tomorrow with the men's races at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
