
Syracuse Cruises Past RIT, 5-2

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Five different members of the Syracuse women's hockey team scored in the Orange's 5-2 win at Rochester Institute of Technology on Friday afternoon.
Jessica Sibley got things going for Syracuse (12-12-5, 11-4-2 CHA) early in the game with a goal at the 1:08 mark of the first period. Sibley was able to get it into the net after a Heather Schwarz shot bounced off the goaltender. RIT (6-23-2, 4-11-2 CHA) responded almost two minutes later with a goal by Kendall Cornine from close range.
Three minutes later, Alysha Burriss tipped in a pass from Lindsay Eastwood to put the Orange ahead, 2-1.
Megan Quinn got the third Orange goal of the day, the eventual game-winner, in the second period. She shot from the faceoff circle and the puck slid underneath the Tiger goaltender into the net.
In the third period, Emily Costales scored a fourth Syracuse goal less than a minute into the frame. RIT cut into the lead with a goal at the 4:58 mark, but Savannah Rennie extended the lead back to three with a goal with six minutes left.
Syracuse had a season-high 38 shots on goal in the contest. The previous high was 37 against Penn State (Jan. 13) and Lindenwood (Oct. 28). The Orange tied a season-high five goals reached against Lindenwood (Jan. 20) and Robert Morris (Jan. 28).
Four different Orange members had multiple points in the game and 10 overall registered a point. Burriss had a goal and an assist, while Eastwood, Stephanie Grossi and Allie Munroe had two assists.
Syracuse and RIT will square off again on Saturday in Syracuse at Tennity Ice Pavilion at 3 p.m. It will be the last home game of the season for the Orange and will serve as Senior Day for the five Orange seniors.
