3/17/2017 1:00:00 PM | Track and Field
Syracuse track standout Justyn Knight added another award to his trophy case on Friday, when he was named ACC Indoor Track Performer of the Year.
He earned the award, which was voted on by the league's head coaches, after finishing second in the 3000-meters at the NCAA Championships last week.
The runner-up performance was his second of the year after he placed second at the NCAA Cross Country Championships as well. Earlier this season, Knight was named ACC Championship MVP after taking gold in the 3000 and 5000 for the second-consecutive year. During the regular season, Knight posted times in the top-25 nationally in the mile, 3000 and 5000-meters.
Knight was already named USTFCCCA Northeast Region Performer of the Year as well.
The indoor slate continued a strong 2016-17 campaign for Knight, who was USTFCCCA Northeast Region and ACC Performer of the Year in cross country as well after going undefeated in the regular season, earning Nuttycombe Wisconsin Adidas Invitational, Panorama Farms Invitational, ACC and NCAA Northeast Regional Championships. He then took second at the NCAA Championships.
The Orange will get their outdoor slate started next weekend at the Stanford Invitational and Florida Relays.
