The Orange are one of 15 programs nationally to have advanced to the second round in each of past four NCAA Tournaments. With a win on Monday, Syracuse would advance to its second regional semifinal in its history.
SUCCESS AGAINST THE BEST
Under head coach Quentin Hillsman, the Orange have defeated at least one opponent ranked in the top 25 of the Associated Press Poll every season since 2007-08. The club knocked off four nationally-ranked foes in the 2016-17 regular season, which is a program record.
With a victory against the Huskies, it would mark the highest-ranked opponent the team has ever defeated. Syracuse defeated No. 2/2 Connecticut, 62-59, on Jan. 2, 1996 and No. 3/2 South Carolina, 80-72, on March 25, 2016.
NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED
Syracuse has appeared in the top 25 of the USA Today Coaches Poll in 27 straight poll releases, a program record. The squad has been ranked in the top 25 of each coaches' rankings since Feb. 2, 2016.
Earlier this season, the Orange was ranked No. 11 nationally in the Associated Press Poll. It marks the highest the team had been ranked in-season in program history.
Prior to head coach Quentin Hillsman's arrival, the Orange had never been ranked in either the AP Poll or coaches' rankings. Since the start of his tenure in 2006-07, Syracuse has been ranked 65 times in the AP Poll and spent 70 weeks in the coaches' rankings.
