
O’Hara Tabbed Top-25 Finalist for Yearly Accolade

Syracuse, N.Y. – Orange senior Sydney O'Hara was named 1-of-25 top finalists for the 2017 D1SoftballNews Player of the Year award. D1SoftballNews plans to announce the recipient of this honor in June to the most outstanding college softball player in the country.
The award is voted on by selected representatives of the D1SoftBallNews writers and staff who frequently cover NCAA softball in the United States.
O'Hara was awarded National Player of the Week by espnW, making her the program's first-ever player to receive such accolade. O'Hara is also an active member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in which she has participated in for three years.
O'Hara currently ranks top-10 nation-wide in four categories, led by her first place spot in saves with six. The first baseman and pitcher is second with an on-base percentage of .603, third in strikeouts per seven innings with an average of 12.2, and sixth with a batting average of .479.
