O'Connor, Santora Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Kaeli O'Connor of the women's lacrosse team and Dominic Santora of the men's rowing team are this week's Syracuse Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
O'Connor is a senior biology major in the College of Arts and Sciences. O'Connor is also one of 54 student-athletes in the Atlantic Coast Conference to receive the 2017 Weaver-James-Corrigan Award given at the Cone Health ACC Postgraduate Scholarship Luncheon.
In the community, O'Connor has volunteered for the Special Olympics in Syracuse and as a Santa's Helper in the Baltimore area, assisting in assembling and delivering packages that provide Christmas meals and gifts for 1,000 families in need.
The Cockeysville, Md. native is a three-year starter on defense for the Orange. She has played in all but one game this season and is tied for the team lead in groundballs with 40.
O'Connor and the women's lacrosse team will face Virginia Tech on April 27 in the ACC Tournament in Richmond, Va.
Santora is a junior public health major in the Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. He is also a member of the Syracuse Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
The Cleveland, Ohio native coxed the first varsity eight that brought home the Conlan Cup when it defeated No. 6 Boston University and No. 18 Columbia on April 22. Santora was an IRA All-Academic Team honoree last season and was a first varsity eight crew in all six races in 2016.
Santora and the men's rowing team will go up against Dartmouth on Saturday, April 29 at James A. Ten Eyck Memorial Boathouse in Liverpool. Racing is set to begin at 8 a.m. on the Onondaga Lake Outlet.
