Donahue Named Tewaaraton Award Nominee

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Syracuse junior Riley Donahue is one of 25 nominees for the 2017 Tewaaraton Award. The list of nominees was announced by the Tewaaraton Award Foundation on Friday, April 28. The award is presented annually to the top female and male college lacrosse players in the nation.

Donahue is Syracuse's leader in points (59), goals (35) and assists (24). She has recorded four or more points in a game eight times this season. Donahue tied her career highs with four goals and seven points in the season opener against Boston College. She followed that performance by tying her career high with four assists against Canisius. Donahue was selected to the All-ACC Second Team in a vote by the league's head coaches. The Camillus, N.Y. native recorded four points (2g, 2a) against Virginia Tech in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals, helping the Orange to a 20-11 victory.

Five women's and five men's finalists will be selected from these groups and announced on Thursday, May 11. The finalists will be invited to the 17th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony on Thursday, June 1 in Washington, D.C.

Donahue and the Orange will take Virginia tonight in the ACC Tournament semifinals in Richmond, Va. at 8 p.m.
