5/18/2017 4:53:00 PM | Track and Field
Syracuse standout Justyn Knight is receiving votes in the latest Bowerman Award Watch List ahead of the NCAA Preliminary Round next weekend.
The Bowerman Award is the top honor in collegiate track and field student-athlete can receive, named after former Oregon track and field and cross country coach Bill Bowerman. The award is presented annually by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association to the top male and female student-athlete annually.
Full Watch List
The USTFCCCA released their watch list with 10 student-athletes, which Knight was not featured in, but he was one-of-three who is receiving votes just outside the top-10. Knight is one-of-two distance runners represented with Oregon standout Edward Cheserek as the other. Knight is the only ACC student-athlete to receive a vote and one of four who will compete in the NCAA East Prelim to be represented.
Knight is coming off the ACC 5k Championship, his eighth individual conference title through three years at Syracuse and enters the NCAA East Regional with the fastest 5k time in the nation and his mark of 13:17.51 from the Payton Jordan Invitational still stands as the world's fastest time of 2017.
Knight and the Orange will next take on the NCAA East Preliminary in Lexington, Kentucky from May 26-28.
