
Top Crew Advances To A/B Semifinals

First and third varsity eight crews advance to top-level semifinals
GOLD RIVER, Calif. – For the first time since the 2012 campaign, the Syracuse men's rowing first varsity eight boat has advanced to the A/B semifinals of the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championship Regatta.
The Syracuse first varsity eight crew finished in second place in its preliminary heat on Lake Natoma on Friday morning, earning a spot in Saturday's A/B semifinals. It marked the first time under head coach Dave Reischman that the first varsity eight boat had earned a trip to the A/B semifinals via the preliminary heats.
The Orange third varsity eight crew also will compete in its respective A/B semifinal, after finishing in second place in its afternoon repechage. Syracuse edged out Brown by less than one half of a second for the final spot in the top-level semifinals. It marks the boat's first trip to the A/B semifinals since the 2014 season, as well.
In the second varsity eight competition, the Orange finished in third place in their repechage and will race in the C/D semifinals on Saturday morning.
Syracuse will hit the water at 11:08 a.m. on Saturday for the first varsity eight A/B semifinals. The second varsity eight crew will race at 12:04 p.m., while the third varsity eight boat will compete at 12:20 p.m.
