U.S., Canada to Meet in World Games Final

WROCLAW, Poland – Team USA and Team Canada will meet with a gold medal on the line for the second time in just more than a week when the squads face off in The World Games final. The game is set for Sunday, July 30 at 8 a.m. Eastern time in Wroclaw, Poland. The United States defeated Great Britain, 18-5, in the semifinals, while Canada advanced to the final with a 14-8 win against Australia in the semifinals.

Alyssa Murray '14 continued her outstanding World Games performance as the top scorer for the U.S. for the third straight game. She had two goals and two assists to earn MVP honors. Murray, who was an alternate but did not dress for the World Cup, now has 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists) in three games.

The U.S. took the lead early, jumping out to a 5-1 lead. Great Britain answered with two straight goals to pull within two at 5-3 before the U.S. went on an eight-goal run to put the game away. Michelle Tumolo '13 added a pair of goals and an assist.

Canada also built a 5-1 lead against Australia and took a 7-3 advantage into the locker room at halftime. The Canadians extended their lead with four unanswered goals to start the second half and went on to the six-goal victory.

The gold medal game will be streamed on a slight delay Sunday on the Olympic Channel at 9:45 a.m. Eastern. It is a rematch of last Saturday's World Cup final, which the United States won, 10-5.
