SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's soccer team hosts Connecticut in the Orange's home opener Monday night at 6 p.m. at SU Soccer Stadium. Syracuse is coming off a 2-0 win at Bucknell while the Huskies are set to play their first game of the 2017 season.

'Cuse opened the 2017 campaign with a 2-0 road win over reigning Patriot League Champion Bucknell on Friday. Sydney Brackett scored twice in the first half to give Syracuse the early lead. Collectively, the team posted 22 shots with ten different players recording a shot in the game.
Â
Home Field Advantage
Syracuse excelled at home in 2016, posting a winning record in SU Soccer Stadium with a 4-1-0 record in non-conference games at home. The Orange earned their sole ACC victory at home against Pittsburgh and took No. 2 Florida State to a double overtime tie in Syracuse.
Â
Brilliant Brosnan
Senior keeper Courtney Brosnan made her 50th start on Friday at Bucknell and tallied her 17th career shutout, placing her third all-time in program history. With the Bucknell victory, the senior also moves into second place in the record book for career wins with 25. She trails only Brittany Anghel ('13) who ranks first with 29 career wins.
Â
Scouting the Huskies
Syracuse owns a 1-18-1 all-time record against Connecticut with the only win coming at home in 2012 when the Orange came out on top, 3-2. The most recent meeting between the two teams occurred in 2015 when Stephanie Ribeiro notched the game's only goal and gave the Huskies the 1-0 victory. Connecticut is the first ranked opponent the Orange will face this season, coming in at 14th in the United Soccer Coaches Poll preseason rankings. The Huskies will play this season without two of their top scorers in Ribeiro and Rachel Hill, both of whom graduated this past year.
