Syracuse to host two races on its home course
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Head coach Dave Reischman announced the 2017-18 Syracuse men's rowing schedule on Thursday afternoon. The Orange will host two races at the James A. Ten Eyck Memorial Boathouse in Liverpool in April.
Syracuse will compete in three events in the fall, highlighted by the Head of the Charles on Sunday, Oct. 22. The Orange participated in the world's largest two-day regatta last season for the first time since 2013, placing 19th in the championship eight with coxswain.
In the spring, Syracuse will kick off its regular season against Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges (EARC)-foe Wisconsin on Saturday, April 7 at home. The following weekend, the Orange will host Cornell and Navy with the Goes Trophy on the line.
Syracuse will look to defend its 2017 Conlan Cup title on Saturday, April 21 when it travels to Boston University and races the Terriers and Columbia. The team will close its regular-season slate the next weekend at Dartmouth.
Postseason competition begins at the EARC Sprints on Sunday, May 13 in Worcester, Mass. The 2017 national champion will be crowned at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championship Regatta in West Windsor, N.J. Racing will run from Friday, June 1 – Sunday, June 3.
The Orange first varsity eight boat finished in eighth place at the 2017 IRA Championship Regatta on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif. It marked the top crew's best finish at the annual national championship regatta since a fifth-place showing in 2012.
