The honors continue to roll in for Syracuse standout Justyn Knight.
The 'Cuse senior is one-of-10 student-athletes represented on The Bowerman Watch List, which is the top award in collegiate track and field. Akin to the Heisman Trophy, the award is presented each December to the top male and female athlete in the sport.
Knight, the 2017 NCAA Cross Country Champion, enters his track campaign coming off a runner-up performance at the 2017 NCAA Indoor Championships in the 5k, and took third at the outdoor championships in the same event. He also claimed a pair of ACC titles last season and turned in one of the top-four collegiate 5k times ever at the Payton Jordan Invitational.
Joining Knight on the watch list are Auburn's Nathon Allen, Florida's KeAndre Bates and Grant Holloway, Houston's Cameron Burrell, Penn State's Isaiah Harris, Josh Kerr of New Mexico, Texas A&M's Ioannis Kyriazis, Kemar Mowatt of Arkansas and South Dakota's Chris Nilsen.
Â
Knight is the only distance runner on the list, which is comprised of two mid-distance runners, two hurdlers, two sprinters, a thrower, a jumper and a pole vaulter in addition to the Vaughan, Ontario native.
Majoring in social work at Syracuse, Knight is seeking to become the seventh person in the last-nine seasons to win the award after being listed on the preseason watch list. The next watch list comes out Feb. 8.
