Custis, Guthrie Collect ACC Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse redshirt senior Jamal Custis and senior Ryan Guthrie were recognized Monday, Oct. 22 for their performances in the Orange's 40-37, double-overtime win against North Carolina Saturday.

Custis was named ACC Receiver of the Week and Guthrie was rewarded with ACC Linebacker of the Week honors.

Syracuse's leading receiver, Custis recorded the second 100-yard game of his career, catching a personal-best seven passes for 162 yards and touchdown against the Tar Heels. He averaged 23.1 yards per catch, including receptions of 50 and 68 yards. He also made a 25-yard touchdown grab in the first overtime that temporarily gave Syracuse a 34-27 advantage.

A first-year starter at middle linebacker, Guthrie tallied a career-best 12 tackles (nine solo), including 1.5 for a loss, and recovered a fumble in the contest. It was Guthrie's second 10+ tackle game in Syracuse's last three outings and the second game in a row he recovered a fumble.

Custis, Guthrie and the rest of the Orange return to action Saturday, Oct. 27 when they host NC State at the Carrier Dome. Kickoff between the Orange and Wolfpack is scheduled for 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
