ORANGE OCTOBER

THE LIVING CLASSROOM
October represents change, and we are seeing it on the playing fields and in the academic life of our student-athletes here at Syracuse. Tommy Powell, our Assistant Provost for Student-Athlete Academic Development, has been working closely with our long-time official apparel and footwear partner Nike on an exciting new project.

Syracuse has 20 student-athletes to fill two spots at Nike headquarters next summer for paid internships. The program involves possible internships in communications, digital, finance, HR, manufacturing and engineering, marketing and many more areas. I see this as a great resource for our students and a continued strengthening of our partnership with Nike.
FIELDS AND COURTS
On the fields and courts, what can I say other than "wow?" I'm loving our teams:
Saturday in Death Valley was one of the toughest road game efforts we have seen from Syracuse Football.
Onward to Pitt. A big rival and a big game.
The drum beat of basketballs has started up in Melo... well with our dedicated athletes (and managers) it never really stops. Hoops starts in October, and we would love to have you meet our returning NCAA Tournament teams next week at Fan Appreciation Weekend! Orange vs. White, Friday. Hoops-n-Scoops, Sunday.

ORANGE IN THE NFL
Sundays are for rest...and the NFL. Great to see some Orange alumni doing great things at the pro-level:

ASK THE AD
As promised, we will do our best to pick some good user submitted questions here on my blog, I appreciate this question:

Hey John, Die Hard fan from up the road in Bville. Just wondering why there isn't any singnage in the IPF? Dino is already on public record stating he thinks it will livein up the place. That statement is over a year old too. There's a bunch of schools with cool posters and accomplishments in their IPF. Why can't Syracuse show off our records? We have beaten Teams like LSU, Ohio State, Texas, Clemson, in bowl games and the recruit and fan should be reminded that. Even if you don't pick my question, can you just think about it.
JW:
Chris, thanks for your note and support. Signage in the Ensley Center is on our "to do" list. I don't have a specific date by which we will have in place, but it is part of our overall plan to upgrade our existing facilities.
CATCH THE ACTION IN PERSON OR BROADCAST
Football is on the road again and then off next week. Orange Central/Homecoming is Oct. 20 vs. UNC, get your tickets now, we need you to make the Loud House the toughest home in the ACC.
Please check in with the composite calendar to find out which games you want to watch or attend this weekend. Cuse.com/tickets is the first stop for all paid events, Olympic sports are free and open to the public.
