SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After three consecutive road games, the Syracuse women's soccer team is back home.
The Orange look to pick up their fourth win of the season when they host Atlantic Coast Conference rival No. 23 NC State at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 inside SU Soccer Stadium. The match will be televised on ACCN Extra via WatchESPN.
LAST TIME OUT
The Orange limited Miami to just two shots on goal but could not find their offensive spark, suffering a 1-0 setback against the Hurricanes Saturday night.
Miami's Gudrun Haralz's goal in the 33rd minute, set up by her teammates Bayleigh Chaviers and Jamie Brunworth, clinched the match for the Hurricanes.
A LOOK AROUND THE CONFERENCE
The ACC has six women's soccer teams among the United Soccer Coaches poll, the most of any league. Three teams are ranked among the top 10 - No. 3 North Carolina, No. 8 Virginia, and No. 10 Florida State - in addition to No. 11 Boston College, No. 17 Duke and No. 23 NC State.
SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK
No. 23 NC State enters Thursday night's match with an 8-3-2 overall record. The Wolfpack are 1-2-1 in conference play, coming off a 2-1 loss at Notre Dame.
The Orange own a 2-1-0 all-time record against NC State, losing 3-0 in their match-up last season.
HEAR FROM COACH WHEDDON
"NC State is a dangerous team. They have some key personnel that we have to be aware of. Tziarra King is the player that everyone talks about. She's obviously a very dangerous player, so we have to take care of her."
WHAT LIES AHEAD
The Orange continue their homestand against No. 3 UNC at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, before finishing up against Notre Dame Saturday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m.
