BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Syracuse opens play in the ACC Men's Soccer Tournament at Virginia Tech on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Match time is set for 7 p.m. in Blacksburg, Va.

ORANGE UPDATE
Syracuse finished the regular season with a 7-5-4 record. The Orange were 1-4-3 in ACC to earn the No. 10 seed in the ACC Tournament.

Sophomore Tajon Buchanan has led the Orange offense this year with 20 points (8 goals, 4 assists), while freshman Ryan Raposo is tied for second in the ACC with seven assists. The Orange have featured a balanced attack this season as 10 players have at least one goal and 12 players have at least one assist.

Senior Hendrik Hilpert has played all but 21 minutes in goal for the Orange this season. He has a goals-against average of 1.17 and a save percentage of .706. Hilpert ranks third in the ACC in saves with 48.

ORANGE IN THE ACC TOURNAMENT
The Orange are making their fifth appearance in the ACC Tournament since joining the league in 2013. Syracuse has an all-time record of 5-1-3 in the league tournament.

SCOUTING THE HOKIES
Virginia Tech enters the ACC Tournament with a 9-5-3 record. The Hokies were 3-4-1 in ACC play and earned the No. 7 seed in the tournament. Virginia Tech was No. 8 in the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Committee's top 10 released on Sunday, Oct. 28.

Kristo Strickler leads the Hokies' offense with 20 points on a team-high eight goals and four assists. Nico Quashie has 12 points (5g, 2a), while James Kasak leads the team with seven assists.

Mathijs Swaneveld has played every minute in goal for Virginia Tech. He has a 1.10 goals-against average and a .796 save percentage.

THE SERIES
Wednesday's match marks the eighth meeting between Syracuse and Virginia Tech. The Hokies lead the all-time series, 5-2-0. The teams have split the four meetings since the Orange joined the ACC. Three of those four games have been decided in overtime.

The Orange traveled to Blacksburg earlier this season for a Sept. 28 match. Neither team could find the back of the net until the 108th minute when Nico Quashie scored to give Virginia Tech a 1-0 victory.

UP NEXT
The winner of Wednesday's match will advance to the ACC Tournament quarterfinals where it will face No. 2 seed North Carolina in Chapel Hill on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m.
