SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Oakland Raiders signed former Orange offensive tackle Jamar McGloster to their practice squad on Tuesday, Oct. 30. The move came after Oakland elevated linebacker James Cowser from the practice squad to the active roster following cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie's retirement.Â
McGloster joins the Raiders after a brief stint with the San Diego Chargers. He was a member of their practice squad until being waived on Oct. 10.
An undrafted rookie free agent, McGloster entered the NFL earlier this year with the San Francisco 49ers. After being waived by San Francisco, McGloster joined the Detroit Lions, suiting up for two preseason games before his release in August.
Â
A Syracuse, McGloster appeared in 30 games from 2014-17. He started 24 games in a row at right tackle his last two seasons.
Â
As a senior in 2017, McGloster was second on the team with 1,034 snaps played. He tallied 12 knockdown blocks and aided a Syracuse offense that ranked third in the ACC in total offense (456.3 ypg) and second in passing (294.8 ypg). Following the season, McGloster earned an invitation to the 2018 East-West Shrine Game. Â
Â
The Raiders are 1-6 this year and play San Francisco tomorrow night at Levi's Stadium.
