#12 Orange Set to Face #20 Minnesota in ACC/B1G Challenge

Syracuse, N.Y. – The 12th-ranked Syracuse University Women's Basketball Team (6-1) heads to Minneapolis, Minn., to take on Minnesota (5-0) as part of the Atlantic Coast Conference/Big Ten Challenge on Thursday, Nov. 29. Thursday marks the first meeting between the two nationally ranked teams in program history.
Syracuse rides a five-game win streak into Thursday night including three wins in three days last week at the Cancun Challenge in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Minnesota is 5-0 on the season under first-year Head Coach, Lindsay Whalen. The Golden Gophers are Syracuse's fourth nationally ranked opponent of the season.
Tiana Mangakahia was named ACC Player of the Week following a game-winning buzzer beater against No. 16 DePaul in the Orange's final game in Cancun. Mangakahia averaged 18 points per game during the three-game stretch and scored 11 of Syracuse's 13 points in the overtime period against the Blue Demons on Saturday.
Syracuse is averaging 78.3 points per game and is shooting 45.4 percent from the field while holding opponents to 64 points and a .364 shooting percentage. Mangakahia paces the team with 17 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Maeva Djaldi-Tabdi and Miranda Drummond are adding 9.7 and 9.1 points per game, respectively while guards Gabrielle Cooper and Kiara Lewis each add 7.7 points per game.
Minnesota is led by senior Kenisha Bell who's averaging 19.6 points and 4.0 assists in 30.2 minutes per game. Taiye Bello averages a double double in points (10.4) and rebounds (13.6) as the Golden Gophers' other offensive juggernaut. Bello ranks seventh in the country in rebounds per game. Whalen's squad has held each of its last three opponents to fewer than 50 points, marking the first time the Gophers have done so since the 2004-05 season.
'Cuse is 3-2 in the ACC/B1G Challenge since joining the league in 2013. The ACC leads the all-time series 8-0-3 in the annual challenge and is 3-0-2 since Syracuse joined the league. Last year, the Orange defeated Northwestern, 81-74, at home. Minnesota is 4-7 in ACC/B1G Challenge after last year's 88-83 loss at home to North Carolina.
Nine of the 14 ACC/B1G Challenge games are scheduled for Thursday, including Syracuse versus Minnesota, which is set to tip-off at 8:30 p.m.
