SERIES HISTORY
Friday's contest is the 17th meeting between the two programs, and the Cardinals own the all-time series lead, 10-6, including wins in three of the last four games played in the Dome.
Syracuse's last win over the Cardinals came in 2012, when the Orange defeated then-No. 11 Louisville 45-26 on Senior Day. The last time Syracuse and Louisville played in the Carrier Dome was in 2016. Eventual Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson set an Orange opponent record with 610 yards of total offense (411 passing, 199 rushing) and five touchdowns in a 62-28 win for the Cardinals.
DOME-INATION
Syracuse enters its final home game perfect (5-0) in the Carrier Dome in 2018. A win against Louisville would complete Syracuse's fourth undefeated season at home since the Dome opened in 1980. The three previous unbeaten Dome seasons (all 6-0) were in 1987, 1988 and 2001.
Syracuse is 144-90-2 all-time in the Carrier Dome, including an 11-7 mark under Babers.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
The Cardinals have been forced to rebuild offensively following the departure of Jackson, who accounted for 13,175 yards of total offense in three seasons.
Without Jackson at the halm, Louisville's offense has struggled, ranking 112th in the nation in total offense with an average of 344.7 yards per game. Quarterback Jawon Pass has taken over for Jackson. Pass has completed 54.5 percent of his throws for 1,697 yards and seven touchdowns this year.
The Louisville rushing load has been spread evenly, as three players have between 50 and 54 carries on the season. Trey Smith's 50 totes for 263 yards and four touchdowns leads the team, while Malik Cunningham is second with 244 yards on 54 carries.
Defensively, Louisville is giving up 466.3 yards per game, which ranks 115th in the nation. The Cardinals have had trouble stopping the run. Louisville ranks 127th out of 129 teams in rushing defense, allowing 277.4 yards per game.
