Syracuse, N.Y. – The Syracuse University women's basketball team will play their first home game in two weeks on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m., when they host the Towson Tigers (3-3) in the Carrier Dome. This is the first meeting between the Orange and Tigers since they first met in 1977.
At halftime of Sunday's game, Syracuse will have the annual Teddy Bear Toss. Fans will have the opportunity to toss a Teddy Bear onto the court as a donation to the Salvation Army.
Syracuse is 2-0 in the Dome with wins over Bucknell and North Dakota. The last four games for 'Cuse have been away from Central New York, including an undefeated performance in Mexico as part of the Cancun Challenge. The last game played by Syracuse was in Minneapolis, Minn., against No. 20 Minnesota for this year's ACC/B1G Challenge in which the Gophers shocked the Orange, 72-68.
Led by point guard Tiana Mangakahia, the Orange average 77 points per game and are holding opponents to 65.0 points per game. Mangakahia leads the tea with 16.3 points and 6.1 assists per game. Maeva Djaldi-Tabdi and Miranda Drummond are adding 9.8 and 9.5 points per game, respectively while freshman Emily Engstler leads the squad with 5.9 rebounds per game.
Towson is even at .500 this season with its three wins over UMass, La Salle, and UMBC. The Tigers last played on Tuesday and lost, 76-63, on the road at George Washington. Head coach Diane Richardson is in her second year with the Tigers. In her first season, Richardson led the Tigers to 9-21 overall with a 4-14 Colonial Athletic Association record.
Redshirt sophomore Kionna Jeter has been an all around force for the Tigers so far this year. She averages over 34 minutes per game and leads the team with 23.3 points per game and 22 steals. Jeter also tops the team with 39 total rebounds and is second in assists with 13.
Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Fans can catch all the action live on the ACC Network Extra.
Following Sunday's game, the Orange remain home to host Maryland Eastern Shore on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.
