SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse University Women's Basketball team heads to Winston-Salem to square off against Wake Forest on Sunday, Feb. 11. 'Cuse is looking to snap a two-game skid after tough home losses to No. 4 Louisville and Virginia Tech last week. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. inside LJVM Coliseum and can be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
Syracuse (17-7, 5-6 ACC) looks for its second ACC road win this season. The Orange are ranked third nationally in 3-point attempts (747). In the ACC, the Orange are first in 3-pointers made (226), third in free-throw percentage (74.1) and fourth in both turnover margin (+2.96) and assists per game (41).
Digna Strautmane became the first back-to-back Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week selection for Syracuse since the Orange joined the league. She averaged 21.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in a pair of home games for 'Cuse and is averaging 20.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game during the last four contests. During the stretch, the Latvia native is shooting a team-best 49.3 percent from the field.
Sophomore Tiana Mangakahia leads the nation in assists with 244, good for fourth in ACC single-season record books. Mangakahia also leads 'Cuse in scoring with 17.7 points per game. Miranda Drummond's 15.3 points per game is second on the team and just outside the top-10 in the ACC.
Elisa Penna and Alex Sharp lead Wake Forest (11-13, 3-8 ACC) this season. Penna is the top scorer for the Demon Deacons, averaging 15.6 points, while Sharp averages 9.9 points and 8.0 rebounds. As a team, Wake Forest averages 67.6 points and 40.6 rebounds per game and is shooting 39.9 percent from the field. The Demon Deacons' 15.6 offensive rebounds per contest ranks third in the league.
SERIES HISTORY
Sunday's game will mark the sixth time Syracuse and Wake Forest have squared off. The Orange have won four of the past five, including the last two matchups. Syracuse's only loss to the Demon Deacons in the series was in the first round of the 2015 ACC Tournament, 85-79.
