Softball Tabbed Sixth in ACC Preseason Poll

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse softball team is picked to finish sixth in the 2018 ACC softball preseason poll, announced Tuesday by the league office. The order of finish is determined by a vote from the league's 12 head coaches.
The Orange return five every-day players from last year's lineup along with two starting pitchers. The team finished the 2017 season with a 31-19 record and a 10-10 mark in conference play.
Florida State leads the ACC predicted order of finish with 121 points and 11 first place votes, followed by North Carolina (105) and Notre Dame (97). Louisville (90) and Boston College (85) round out the top five. The full preseason poll can be found below.
Syracuse will face eight conference opponents in Virginia Tech, Virginia, Florida State, Boston College, Notre Dame, Louisville, NC State and North Carolina. No. 9/6 Florida State is the lone ACC team represented in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Preseason Poll and the ESPN/USA Softball preseason poll.
The Orange begin the 2018 season on Friday, Feb. 9 at the Tiger Classic, hosted by LSU. Syracuse will face UT Arlington, UMass (twice), Southern Miss and No. 8/8 LSU over the course of the three-day tournament.
