
Orange Season Ends in NCAAs

Starkville, Miss. – The 8th-seed Syracuse Orange lost to No. 9 seed Oklahoma State, 84-57, in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament in Starkville, Miss. on Saturday. Junior Miranda Drummond scored 24 points for the Orange, including seven 3-point field goals, and had seven rebounds. Syracuse concludes the season with a 22-9 record, while Oklahoma State takes a 21-10 mark into its second round NCAA Tournament game.
In the first quarter, Oklahoma State opened up a 10-point lead, 16-6, with 5:32 remaining before the Orange responded with a four-minute 13-0 run to take a 19-16 advantage on back-to-back three-point field goals by Isis Young and Drummond. Young finished with 11 points and two assists in the game. OSU led 23-22 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Young gave the Orange the lead again, 30-29, with 3:46 left when she hit her second 3-point field goal of the game. In the first half, Drummond had 10 points and Young had nine, with each player hitting three 3-point field goals. After center Amaya Finklea-Guity hit a layup to give the Orange a three point lead, 32-29, with 2:41 remaining in the half, Oklahoma State went on an 11-0 run to take a 40-32 lead after two quarters.
In the third quarter, the Cowgirls outscored Syracuse 27-9 to open a 26-point lead, 67-41, they would not relinquish. OSU's Jaden Hobbs led all scorers with 27 points, including 8-of-9 shooting from behind the 3-point line, and Loryn Goodwin and Kaylee Jensen each contributed 19 points.

Junior Tiana Mangakahia had seven assists in the game, increasing her Syracuse and ACC single-season record to 304.
Miranda Drummond's 84 3-point field goals this season ranks fourth on the Syracuse single-season record list.
Head coach Quentin Hillsman has a 263-136 record in 12 seasons at Syracuse. Hillsman has guided the Orange to seven NCAA Tournaments and 10 20-win seasons.
