3/23/2018 5:35:00 PM | Men's Rowing
Princeton, N.J. – The Orange won't debut on the water for two more weeks but that didn't stop the Syracuse University heavyweight varsity eight from securing a top-10 ranking in the first US Rowing Collegiate Coaches Poll of the season.
Yale took the No. 1 spot earning five first-place votes while the University of California at Berkeley was ranked second with seven first-place votes while Washington, Harvard and Princeton rounded out the top-5. Cornell received all four first-place votes for the lightweight men's eight poll.
The Orange finished the 2017 ranked eighth in the US Rowing Coaches Poll following an eighth-place finish at the IRA Championship Regatta. In the fall, Syracuse earned a 14th-place finish in the championship eight event at the Head of the Charles and a pair of top-5 finishes at the Princeton Chase.
'Cuse begins its 2018 campaign at home against April 7, against Wisconsin for the first of three home events for the Orange this spring.
