
Orange Check-In at No. 13 in US Rowing Coaches Poll

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Orange remain ranked in the US Rowing Coaches Poll this week checking in a No. 13 in the varsity eight poll. Syracuse previously held the No. 10 spot but a loss to Wisconsin last weekend saw 'Cuse move down three spots while the Badgers moved from No. 12 to No. 10 this week.
Syracuse will host its second race in as many weeks on Saturday, April 14, when the Orange welcome No. 11 Cornell and No. 15 Navy to James A. Ten Eyck Memorial Boathouse for the annual Goes Trophy Race.
The Orange look to bring home the Goes Trophy for the first time since 2011 on Saturday. Also on the line Saturday is the Stagg Trophy, which Syracuse last won in 2011. Last season, Navy took home both cups while Cornell retained both for the previous three years.
The first race of the day is scheduled for 8:00 am ET on Saturday.
About the Goes Trophy
Clifford "Tip" Goes, Syracuse Class of 1914, created the Goes Trophy in 1955 to honor coaches James Ten Eyck of Syracuse, Charles Courtney of Cornell and Richard Glendon of Navy. The trophy is presented to the winner of the annual race between the schools.
About the Stagg Trophy
Presented to the team compiling the most overall points in the heavyweight races between Navy, Cornell and Syracuse, the Stagg Trophy is named after Norman G. Stagg, the late Tompkins County judge and former Cornell oarsman.
