
Tobias, Paladino Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Christina Tobias of the women's rowing team and Andy Paladino of the men's track and field team were named this week's Scholar-Athletes of the Week.

A senior from San Jose, California, Tobias is majoring in computer engineering. She is a Collegiate Rowing association Scholar-Athlete Award honoree and a member of the All-ACC Academic Team. Tobias has earned a spot on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in all seven semesters completed at Syracuse and has been named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll three times.

Tobias has primarily rowed on the second varsity eight since her freshman season, and was part of the second varsity eight that was named the ACC Crew of the Year in 2017. Her second varsity boat finished in first place at the ACC Championship last May.

Paladino is a senior pursuing a double major in public communications and geography in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and the College of Arts and Sciences, respectively. The Morgantown native was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll as a sophomore and is a three-time member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

A distance runner by trade, Paladino took second in the mile at the Marc Deneault Memorial during the indoor season, finishing in a time of 4:18.46. He posted a career-best 4:15.87 in the mile-run at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic on Jan. 26-27, for a 53rd place finish.
