Syracuse, N.Y. – The Syracuse University men's rowing team moved up two spots in this week's US Rowing Coaches' Poll. The Orange are tied for 12th with Central New York rival Cornell in the April 25th poll. Washington received 11 first-place votes and jumped from No. 3 to the top spot.
'Cuse has remained in the top-15 all season and will face eighth-ranked Dartmouth on Saturday in Hanover, N.H., for the Packard Cup. The Orange have claimed the Packard Cup 28 times since it was first contested in 1960. Syracuse most recently won the trophy in 2016.
About the Packard Cup
Anthony Ladd commissioned the Packard Cup in 1959 to honor his father-in-law, Edward N. Packard (SU Class of 1906). The cup, made of sterling silver, is awarded annually to the winner of the Syracuse-Dartmouth race. Packard was the stroke of the 1904 varsity eight, the first SU crew to capture an IRA championship.
