SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Three incoming Syracuse freshman have been named to the Premier Girls Fastpitch High School All-America Team. Outfielder Madison Crosslin was named to the Central All-American team, middle infielder Anya Gonzalez was picked for the Mountain All-American squad and pitcher/first baseman Peyton Schnackenberg was selected to the Northeast All-American team.
Crosslin is a member of the Blue Springs South High School (Mo.) softball program guided by Kristi Williams. The Jaguars were the Class 4 State runner-up in 2016 and 2017. Crosslin earned All-American Scholar-Athlete three times three times and first-team all-district twice. She was second-team all-region as a junior and first-team all-region following her senior campaign.
While helping Blue Springs South to a 24-10 record in the Fall of 2017, Crosslin hit .459, scored 41 runs and drove in 22. She stole 34 bases in 34 games played.
Gonzalez played shortstop for Canyon Del Oro High School (Ariz.). She was part of the 2017 Class 4A State Championship squad with the Dorados. Canyon Del Oro reached the semifinals in 2018 before being exiting the double-elimination tournament. This spring Gonzalez hit .352, scored 27 runs and had 19 runs batted in for Coach Kelly Fowler. A four-year letter winner, she was a teammate of another Syracuse signee, Alexis Kaiser.
Schnackenberg is in the midst of her senior season with Montgomery High School (N.J.). She pitched the Cougars to a 2-1 victory against West Windsor-Plainsboro South in the first round of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) Tournament on May 21. The win upped her record to 13-6 on the season. She's struck out 10-or-more batters eight times this spring, including a campaign-best 14 against Hunterdon Central. In 23 games, she has a .371 average, 17 runs and 13 RBI.
Schnackenberg has played on three Skyland Conference Championship teams for Coach Bryan Upshaw at Montgomery. She was the 2017 Skyland Conference Player of the Year and a second-team all-state selection.
The Premier Girls Fastpitch High School All-America Teams were picked by a national selection committee.
Coach Mike Bosch guided the Orange to a 30-20 overall record and a 9-12 mark in conference play. Syracuse earned a spot in the ACC Tournament, but were eliminated in a 2-1 loss to Louisville.
