Men's Rowing Set for IRA National Championship
5/31/2018 5:03:00 PM | Men's Rowing
West Windsor, N.J. – The Syracuse University men's rowing team is set to compete at the 2018 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championship beginning Friday morning at Mercer Lake inside Richard J. Coffee Mercer County Park in West Windsor, N.J. The Orange earned an automatic qualifier bid for the second consecutive year and enter a varsity eight, second varsity eight, third varsity eight and varsity four into the 116th IRA Championship.
The 9th-ranked Orange look to capitalize on a strong EARC Sprints and piggyback off last season's top-10 finish at the IRA Championship. In 2017, 'Cuse's varsity eight crew placed second in the petite final marking the Orange's best finish in the varsity eight finish since placing fifth in 2012.
Syracuse's varsity eight looks for its seventh top-10 finish under head coach Dave Reischman this weekend.
Due to threatening weather, Friday's preliminary schedule has been adjusted. Syracuse will race in Lane 4 for all four prelims with the varsity eight starting things off at 8 a.m. The second varsity eight is schedule to race at 9 a.m. while the third varsity eight are set for 9:36 a.m. and 10:21 a.m., respectively.
The entire IRA Championship will be streamed live for fans unable to make it to Mercer Lake.
