DESKO WINS ACC COACH OF THE YEAR
- Head Coach John Desko became the first coach in ACC history to win ACC Coach of the Year in four-straight seasons.
- Voted on by the league's head coaches, Desko led the Orange to a perfect 4-0 record in conference play for the second year in a row.
- This is the also the youngest squad that Desko has mentored in his tenure, with two true freshmen in the starting lineup and just two players in their final year of eligibility. With five of the 10 starters having at least two more years of eligibility remaining, Desko is starting a majority of underclassmen for the first time in over a decade.
ALL-ACC HONOREES
- Four members of the Orange were selected by the league's head coaches to the All-ACC Team.
- The four selections is the third-most of any school, trailing Duke and Notre Dame with five selections each.
- Brett Kennedy, Nick Mellen, Jamie Trimboli and Nate Solomon were all selected to the squad. Each is a first-time selection.
ORANGE IN BOUNCE-BACK GAMES
- Head coach John Desko has had tremendous success in getting the Orange back on track following a loss.
- 'Cuse is 45-23 in games following a loss during a season under Desko (this record does not include the season opener following season-ending losses).
- Under Desko, 'Cuse has only had 12 "losing streaks" (two or more consecutive losses). Syracuse snapped one of the previous 11 earlier this season in a 12-11 win over Duke.
RESPECTED RESUME
- With Selection Sunday looming, Syracuse boasts a favorable case for one of the NCAA Tournament at-large selections.
- 'Cuse currently ranks No. 12 in LaxPower's RPI rankings, with RPI serving as the top metric for comparison among teams.
- Syracuse also boasts the No. 3 strength of schedule ranking and is the only team in the nation with two wins over teams ranked in the top-five of the RPI.
A WIN AGAINST COLGATE WOULD...
- Be the program's 903rd victory, second all-time behind Johns Hopkins.
- Improve SU's record to 57-20 since the start of the 2014 season
- Give John Desko his 244th career coaching win, fifth among active Division I coaches and move him into sole possession for 23rd all-time at the NCAA Division I level.
