Paige Stoner broke the Syracuse record in the 5000-meters, while Justyn Knight turned in one of the top-10 times in NCAA history in the same event at the Payton Jordan Invitational to once again claim ACC Performer of the Week honors.
Knight posted the 10th fastest time in NCAA history and fastest time nationally this season with his 13:18.74 at the Payton Jordan Invitational in the 5,000 meters. Knight now has two of the top-10 marks in the event in NCAA history after he ran an ACC-record 3:17.54 in 2017 at the same meet last year.
The Orange senior's time leads the nation this season by nearly three seconds, and he also ranks No. 2 nationally in the 1,500. He will enter the ACC Outdoor Championships as the defending champion in the 5,000 meters, and he also claimed the 1,500 title in 2015.
Stoner set a new school record of 15:41.26 in the 5000 meters while posting the 12th-best 5k time nationally at the Payton Jordan Invitational. Stoner finished second in her section, and her time was good for 18th overall in the meet filled with professionals. Her record bested Sarah Pagano's previous Syracuse mark from 2014 by a full six seconds. She heads into the ACC Championships looking for her second title of the year after winning the ACC Cross Country Championship.
The ACC Championships begin Thursday in Miami.
