6/4/2018 11:31:00 PM | Track and Field
As Justyn Knight goes into his final race in a Syracuse uniform this week, he'll do so remaining on The Bowerman watch list every week of the 2017-18 season.
In the pre-championship watch list, Knight, Florida's Grant Holloway and New Mexico's Josh Kerr are the only-three runners to make every list since the start of the preseason.
Â
Auburn's Nathon Allen, USC's Rai Benjamin, Kansas' Gleb Dudarev, Houston's Elijah Hall, South Dakota's Chris Nilsen, USC's Michael Norman and UTEP's Michael Saruni also made the list ahead of this week's NCAA Championships.
An 11-time ACC individual champion to complement his five team titles, Knight is looking to become the first three-time individual national champion in Syracuse history on Friday night when he races in the 5000-meters.
The race favorite based on season time, Knight posted his second mark inside the top-10 times in collegiate history in the 5000-meters this year at the Payton Jordan Invitational and owns the No. 7 time all-time in the 1500-meters, which he set at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
Already with two NCAA titles this year in cross country and the indoor 5000-meters, Knight scored enough points at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, to finish 10th as a team by himself.
A graduate of the David B. Falk College, with a degree in social work, Knight will look to complete the triple crown on Friday night at 10:25 p.m. ET.
