7/10/2018 9:23:00 AM | Track and Field
'Cuse continued to shine at the international level this week, when rising sophomore Laura Dickinson took ninth in her heat at the IAAF U20 World Championships in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
Dickinson, representing Canada, crossed the line in 10:24.41 – a mark that was a season-best time. Her finish was good for 25th overall across all heats at the event in Tampere, Finland.
Dickinson continued the 'Cuse success in the event this year. Paige Stoner took third overall at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which was the best finish by a 'Cuse woman at the NCAA Championships. In the men's steeplechase, Aidan Tooker (fourth) and Noah Affolder (ninth), both turned in top-10 performances. Tooker then went on to post a 'Cuse record at the USATF Championships while placing 11th in an event where he was the lone collegian.
The overall success of the program was rewarded in the USTFCCCA Program of the Year standings, where the 'Cuse men finished sixth and the women placed 13th, making Syracuse one-of-five programs nationally with both its men's and women's programs represented.
