
Another School Record Falls at Clemson

Elijah Mallard set his third school record in as many meets to lead the Orange at Friday's Orange & Purple Invitational, hosted by Clemson.
Mallard ran to a personal-best time of 46.59 seconds in the 400-meter dash, besting his own school record from six days ago, finishing sixth at the highly competitive meet. Nicea Jones placed ninth in the women's event, also with a personal-best time of 55.58 seconds.
Jamir Brown had the best semifinal time in the 60-meter hurdles, but did not compete in the final. His personal-best time moves him into a tie for the third-fastest in the country this season.
Tia Outlaw took 10th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.34 seconds, she was followed by teammate Peyton Rollins, who finished in 8.59 seconds and Taleea Buxton, who placed 32nd.
In the flat 60, Indie Wallace-Persaud placed 12th in 7.58 seconds. Sierra Joesph finished in 7.80 seconds.
Wallace-Persaud, Jones and Joseph also raced in the 200, with Wallace-Persaud leading the way in 11th, after crossing the line in 24.31 seconds. Jones finished in 24.96 seconds, for 24th, and she was followed three spots later by Joseph in 25.08 seconds.
Saturday's portion of the event was canceled due to inclement weather forecasts in the region. The Orange return to action next week.
