Orange star Justyn Knight finished second in the 5000-meters at the Canadian National Championships after being edged by 2016 Olympian and sixth-place finisher at last year's IAAF World Champion Mohammed Ahmed at the line to earn silver.
The race was ran at a slow pace until the final lap, when the top-three runners all turned over 55 second final laps. Ahmed finished in 14:36.09, followed by Knight (14:36.56). NCAA 10k Champion Ben Flanagan took third (14:36.66).
Knight concluded his phenomenal Syracuse career last month, finishing as a three-time NCAA Champion (two individual; one team), 16-time ACC Champion (11 individual; five team), 10-time All-American and scored 48 points by himself at NCAA track and field championships in his four years. He also finished ninth in the 5000-meters at the last IAAF World Championships in 2017.
