
Cooper Named Top Incoming Defender

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse's Sarah Cooper has been named the top incoming freshman defender in the nation by Inside Lacrosse in its 2018 Recruiting Issue. The publication ranked Cooper and her fellow Orange women's lacrosse freshmen as the No. 2 recruiting class in the country.

Cooper anchored the Notre Dame Prep (Md.) defense last season, helping the squad to the IAAM "A" championship. She competed in the Under Armour All-America game last summer and earned Varsity Sports Network's Defensive Player of the Year accolades. Cooper was named to the ILWomen's All-High School squad and the USA Today All-USA Girls Lacrosse First Team.

Cooper and the incoming class join head coach Gary Gait's squad that has made seven consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
