
No. 15 Syracuse Comes Home to Face No. 20 Wake Forest Friday

Coming off a thrilling 1-0 OT-victory against third-ranked UConn, 15th-ranked Syracuse field hockey (9-5, 1-3 ACC) returns home after a two-game road trip to take on No. 20 Wake Forest (7-8, 0-4 ACC) at 7 p.m. on Friday at JS Coyne Stadium. Fans can stream Friday's game on ACC Network Extra online or via the WatchESPN App.
Syracuse snapped a three-game losing skid with its defeat of the third-ranked Huskies on Sunday. It was the sixth time the Orange have gone to overtime this season, emerging victorious in all six matches. Syracuse averages 1.93 goals per game and 13.1 shots per game. 'Cuse is outscoring opponents 27-24 this season and owns a 2.35 goals against average. Charlotte de Vries leads the team with 14 goals and an assist for 29 points. Claire Cooke has the second-most goals (3) while Laura Graziosi, Carolin Hoffmann, Sarah Luby and SJ Quigley all have two. Quigley leads the squad with five assists.
Wake Forest enters Friday's match with mixed results in the month of October, going 3-3 with wins against each of its non-conference opponents (Miami (OH), Michigan State, Davidson) and losses against each of its ACC opponents (Louisville, Duke, North Carolina). The Demon Deacons rank at the bottom of the conference in goals per game (1.27), goals against (25) and goals against average (1.67). Anne van Hoof has a team-high five goals while Laia Vancells leads the Demon Deacons in points (12) and is tied with Kelsey Gill and Meike Lanckohr for the team-lead in assists (4).
Wake Forest leads the all-time series 6-4, winning its past three meetings with the Orange. Syracuse's last victory over the Demon Deacons was a 4-2 win in 2016 on the road. Last time the two met, Wake defeated 'Cuse, 4-1, at Kentner Stadium on Oct. 14, 2018.
The Orange play their home finale on Sunday when they face Cornell at 2 p.m. for Senior Day. Syracuse fell to the Big Red, 1-2, at Dodson Field earlier in the season. Admission and parking to all home games is free.
